as to timescale and cost, and also a clear plan as to how the project
would be pursued, with full involvement of the personnel involved, so
that targets were seen as achievable.
Clearly now the project on completion will leave an organisation which
is better placed to meet the highly competitive demands of retailing,
with a significantly smaller personnel structure with a corresponding
lower cost. All this in a business which was already proud of tight labour
cost control.
Through the project customer service has been identified as a priority,
and although staff are aware of the restructuring issues, our customers
should not notice any drop in service standards, indeed standards of
service will be greatly improved."
